Yesterday was the 13th of May. 13 is an unlucky number for some people. Me? Not so much. I’m not superstitious (although I am pretty sure the world will end if the 8-ball keyring I’ve had since my wife gave it to me back in 1992 ever breaks). What if your amplifier was divided by 13? Well I’m pretty sure you’d be one lucky individual—especially if that amplifier was the CCC 9/15. That’s one sexy black and white all-tube amplifier.
I’m very certain that the CCC 9/15 would never be in my wife’s acceptable amplifier budget range, but imagine! A true custom amplifier that is hand built as an individual piece of awesomeness. Plus this amplifier offers two different settings that are not only different wattages, but two different poweramp setups. Very cool. If you watch the video that Pro Guitar Shop put together you’ll see first-hand how this generates several different tonal options (as well as the obvious volume options).
Let’s look at the feature list.
- 9 watts (2 x 6V6 Class A poweramp tubes)
- 15 watts (2 x EL84 Class AB1 poweramp tubes)
- Single channel, dual modes
- Push/pull mid/gain boost
- 12AX7 Preamp
- Tube rectified (5AR4/GZ34)
- 4, 8 and 16 ohm speaker outputs
As I mentioned earlier, this is all-tube. Plus it looks and seemingly sounds amazing. Plus I love that the image on the official website indicates a black and white amplifier. Obviously that is the option cool people would choose. It’s perfect in my opinion. But there are some people who like colours. Weird right?! Well, if you’re one of those people, then you may like the fact that the CCC 9/15 can be built in any of the colour combinations available through Divided by 13. Another advantage of a truly customised approach to amplifier construction.
Take a look through the colour options on the CCC 9/15 web page. What colour tickles your fancy?
Disclaimer: I’ve not played through this head. I have not experienced the sound or tone of this head other than through video. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
