52 Guitars, week 39—Normandy Guitars Chrome Archtop

There are many musical genres. This is what I’ve heard at least. For me, there is metal and there is … whatever else other people listen to. The same is also true for guitars. There are many makes and models of guitar and most of them have one thing in common … Wood. Every now and then though, you come across a guitar that stands out for the same reason my favourite musical genre does … Metal. 52 Guitars, week 39—Normandy Guitars Chrome Archtop

52 Guitars, week 38—Daisy Rock Bangles Signature Guitar

Let’s get one thing straight. I’m a man.

Now that I’ve got that off my obviously hairy chest, I’d like to add the Daisy Rock Guitars Bangles Signature model to my wishlist of 52 guitars. I’d already stated on Twitter that I was man enough to like Daisy Rock Guitars and I received an awesome response letting me know the necks are thinner and more lightweight. This is ideal for women who want to rock and lazy men like me. The advice I was given actually went like this. 52 Guitars, week 38—Daisy Rock Bangles Signature Guitar

52 Guitars, week 37—Reverend Manta Ray HB

I love a well designed double cutaway with a three-a-side headstock. It works incredibly well for the Gibson SG and it absolutely works well with the Reverend Manta Ray HB. What I love in particular with this model of Reverend guitar is that it appears symmetrical even though it isn’t as symmetrical as it could be. The headstock is angled at the end and the body has an f-hole on one side of the body. Still with all its other parts laid out, it works a treat.

My obvious favourite finish is the black, but the Tobacco Burst Flame Maple complete with Bigsby bridge is also an amazing looking guitar. 52 Guitars, week 37—Reverend Manta Ray HB

52 Guitars, week 36—Gittler Guitar

Regular readers of this blog will know I look for a few things in my guitars before I add them to this wishlist. Those things are uniqueness, the ability to purchase the guitar in black or white and that whole cool factor. According to what I’ve read in the Gittler Guitar‘s Press Kit, this guitar ticks all of those boxes. People who follow me on Twitter would also know I’m partial to metal (the musical genre). Well this guitar is almost completely metal (material). The Gittler Guitar keeps on ticking the right boxes! 52 Guitars, week 36—Gittler Guitar

Amplitoon graphic novel (Issue 1)

I decided to create digital graphic novel (of sorts) around the AmpliTube software that I use regularly on the iPad. I shared the booklet with IK Multimedia (creators of AmpliTube) who then shared the pages with their fans through social media. The booklet was created using screenshots from the AmpliTube iOS app and the Strip Designer iOS comic strip layout app. The rest was put together by me in InDesign.

AmpliToon … My AmpliTube ‘How to’ graphic novel

I love graphic novels. I’ve always found them to be one of the greatest story telling mechanisms available to man. I also happen to love playing guitar through my iPad. I’ve found the iPad to be an incredible tool for people such as me, to improve their skillset and experiment with tone, recording, sharing and constructive criticism on a global scale. All of this got me thinking. What is surely going to be the best way of reminding myself how to use some of my favourite iOS software and possibly help others do the same?

Well, because I’m a giver, I made AmpliToon … An almost graphic novel about IK Multimedia‘s AmpliTube application for the iPad. AmpliToon … My AmpliTube ‘How to’ graphic novel

My Twitter inspired Father’s Day iTunes wishlist

Today is Father’s Day in Australia. I was lucky and received an iTunes voucher as part of my present from my ‘grateful for their lives’ children. I had decided a few days ago that if I received an iTunes gift card I would do a couple of things with it. Firstly I would use it to create some new plectrums using my PickMaster plectrum maker. Secondly, I would use the credit from the gift card to buy music from some of the bands/acts I’d discovered through the Twitter network.

I decided to do the second item first as to do otherwise meant cutting up my card before grabbing the redeem code from the back. Plan ahead! My Twitter inspired Father’s Day iTunes wishlist
