52 Guitars, week 35—G&L Tribute Series Fiorano GTS

I don’t know if it’s a global thing or not, but where I come from GTS is generally associated with hot-rodded cars. GTS has implied fast for as long as I can remember. The G&L Tribute Series Fiorano GTS looks to me like it might also be built for speed. It’s a no-nonsense design that comes in a finish I love … Trans black. Awesome.

The bridge is a TonePros locking C-TPFP model with a CT-1 tailpiece. There are two humbucker pickups (bridge and neck positions) that are both G&L designed. The bridge pickup is an AS4255B while the neck pickup is an AW4368B. Both of these have been designed by Paul Gagon who has done some pretty amazing things in his electronics career. You should absolutely read his story on the G&L website.

What other features would you list if a list was required for an article such as this? Why you’d list these:

  • 24 medium jumbo frets
  • Mahogany body with flame maple top
  • Mahogany neck with maple fretboard
  • Set neck construction
  • 3-position pickup switch
  • Single volume and single tone (push/pull coil tap) controls

It’s a simple guitar, but the body shape (Super Strat style) just looks easy to use and must be fast to play. It just must! From a design perspective I love that the headstock shape is more Les Paul than Super Strat. It just seems to work well on this guitar. Having the Les Paul style pickup and bridge combination makes the headstock seem like the perfect fit.

I’ve not mentioned this in great detail yet, but this is a G&L guitar. Every wishlist should have one of these guitars in it. This one is mine.

Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.

  1. Great speculation. I just ordered one but haven’t played it yet! Your comment about winners playing them made me feel fuzzy
