This week I’m going to do something different. I’m going to reference a guitar I’ve actually played before. Crazy right!?
Last year I was lucky enough to visit San Diego and I made sure I took the time to visit the Taylor Guitars Factory Tour. If you get the chance to participate in this tour, make sure you do. It’s guitar heaven. When I was there I played the Taylor Guitars Solid Body SB2-S (and many others from the Taylor Guitars range). Although I went there expecting to learn a lot about acoustic guitar manufacturing, I walked away with an increased appreciation for the Taylor Guitars Solid Body range.
Here’s the usual list to help explain why this is an awesome guitar:
- Mahogany body with a maple top
- Twin humbuckers
- Ebony fretboard
- Taylor Chrome tuners
- The contours and the finish.
I had to add that last one to the list because the finish is amazing on these guitars. The photographs on the official website are awesome, but you really need to see these in the factory and/or showroom to appreciate them properly.
I’m also a huge fan of the bridge that is used on this guitar. It’s different and it’s visually appealing. Win-win. It’s also worth pointing out that you can design your own Solid Body guitar on the Taylor website. I’ve included the version I designed below. Sexy huh!?
Disclaimer: I’ve actually played this guitar. I have therefore experienced the sound and feel of this guitar. I can therefore verify that it looks awesome, is obviously played by winners and that I want one.
