Today’s guitar will be one of the coolest looking guitars I shall write about this year. There are many reasons for that bold claim—bold in both senses—which I will eventually point out in list format. Before I get to that list though, let me point out the obvious reason. Moniker Guitars let you design your guitar online to your own specifications. Simply awesome.
The online custom building tool at Moniker Guitars is just amazing. You can edit just about every aspect of your build as you create your very own custom guitar. You begin with the familiar Les Paul or Telecaster body shapes and build from there. I have built a couple of online guitars already—see option one and option two—and have to say the temptation to order one of these to see and hear what they sound like in real life is incredibly tempting.
The temptations can all be seen in the list I promised I’d provide earlier. Here is that list:
- Build your own custom design (including the option to supply your own graphics)
- Choose Moniker parts or choose brands such as Seymour Duncan or Bigsby
- An estimated four week turnaround from order to build
- Every headstock labelled as 1/1 (nobody gets the same guitar)
- Most custom builds seemingly under $1000 USD
That last point impresses me greatly. I’ve played with the online custom building tool a bit this last week and even my craziest builds have rarely crept over the $1000 USD mark. I would love to know the shipping costs to Australia. One day perhaps.
Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
