My top 10 metal versions of pop songs

Have you ever heard a popular song and thought “I don’t mind that at all! Pity it isn’t heavy metal.” I’ve had that thought plenty of times over the years. Oh, I should point out that I only hear pop songs through friends and family.

Street cred retained.

Luckily for us all, there are plenty of rock and/or metal bands who have re-recorded some of the most popular pop songs (pop pop songs?!) and I thought I’d share some of my favourites with you. Enjoy!

Seether—Careless Whisper

Trivium—Losing My Religion

W.A.S.P.—Somebody To Love

Disturbed—Shout

Disturbed—Land Of Confusion

Dope—You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)

Godsmack—Come Together

Marilyn Manson—Sweet Dreams

Marilyn Manson—Tainted Love

Alien Ant Farm—Smooth Criminal

Sometimes the covering of a song can go the other way too. Sometimes a metal band’s song is re-recorded into a non-metal version that doesn’t sound too bad at all. I’ll leave you with one version I quite like.

Melissa VanFleet—Sleeping (In The Fire)

Know some others? Disagree that some of these are good? Let me know … Comment below.
