I discovered this week’s dream guitar maker luthier when I was perusing the prizes one lucky person is going to win in Sonoma Wireworks‘ RiffRumble 23. A major component of the first prize is a Codella Stormchaser Guitar. I had not heard of Codella Guitars so I visited their website. I’m glad I did. If you read on, I believe you’ll be glad too.
Codella Guitars is a new company that is producing guitars based on a combination of the founder’s 40 year history of guitar playing/knowledge and a keen interest in using innovation on an instrument that has not changed a great deal since its inception. Bold move.
So far I like where it’s heading. Check out some of the cool features the first Codella Guitars models will include.
- Magnetic rear access panel (no more unscrewing the access panel to get to the guitar’s guts).
- Truss rod adjustment through the neck mounting plate—without removing the plate!
- LSR Roller nut (very cool looking)
- Flush mounted scratchplate (you need to check out the pictures)
- Grover quick release strap locks
- Sperzel stagged locking tuners
Cool huh!? Those first two points are seriously impressive in my opinion.
Not only do these guitars have some pretty impressive features in/on them, I think they look cool and unique. Unique is something that continues to be a challenge these days. I think Codella Guitars has done well. I look forward to watching them grow over time.
One can only hope.
Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
