52 Guitars, week 22—Ibanez DN300

I own an Ibanez. I actually own a black Ibanez. It was the first real guitar I ever purchased. Prior to that I’d gone through several guitars made by companies I’m sure don’t even make guitars anymore. Having stated all of that, I feel the need to remind myself that this weekly wishlist is about building a dream list of unique (to the collection) guitars. Luckily for me, Ibanez make plenty of guitars that I’d gladly put in my wishlist. Guitars like the DN300.

Apart from the shape, this guitar has the following items that make it stand out to me.

  • Sustain-heavy set-in neck
  • Quik Change III tailpiece
  • ACH pickups (neck and bridge)

Not in that list (because I excluded it prior to the list) is the shape. I just love the body shape, the pickguard shape and the headstock shape. This is one well designed guitar. A lot of the remaining components are somewhat standard (three-way pickup selector, Master volume/tone controls and 22 frets) but that works well on this guitar from my point of view. If everything on this guitar was extreme it would be too much.

The design is amazing and the guitar seems modern and stylish. I could see myself having a guitar like this in my collection for many a year. If only I had money. Lots and lots of money.

Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
