The other day I decided to post an image on my Instagram account of a few Lego characters in and around the pickup cavity of an electric guitar of mine. I hadn’t put a lot of thought into it, but it was fun. In fact, it was so much fun I decided to take another shot at the end of the day. The next morning I took another shot. Before I knew it, I was creating a dialogue of sorts and the characters—I’d named them Steve, Dave and Jim—began to take on a life of their own. I bit like Pinocchio, but cool.
After a few days I’d taken 13 photographs and had the Lego characters install a pickup, string a guitar, plug the guitar into an amplifier and test that all was working perfectly. Steve, Dave and Jim had become my tiny personalised road crew. They were slow, but they got the job done.
I enjoyed the process and a few friends commented that they enjoyed the series. So, I decided I’d collate the images and plot (for what it’s worth) into one document. That document can now be downloaded for free right here, right now. How? Well by using this link for The Adventures of Steve, Dave and Jim (PDF). Oh, the images are all in living colour too.
Just in case I do this again I’ve decided to call this one Issue 1: Guitar Maintenance. If there are no further issues, then this remains a collectors issue #1. Win-win right?
I hope you enjoy the read. I enjoyed making it.
