Charvel sure do make some sexy guitars. I’m personally a huge fan of their San Dimas range—perfect combination of all that makes a Super Strat great. But I also like this Pro Stock DS2. It’s like a Super Les Paul. Perfect!

Winter 2013 Amp, Guitar & Pedal Tryouts with Charles Cilia

Today I visited the Winter 2013 Amp, Guitar & Pedal Tryouts with Charles Cilia that Top Notch Guitar & Bass put on. There were some serious amplifiers, pedals and guitars on display for all to trial. I checked out the pedals and had a quick look at some of the amplifiers that were setup in the rehearsal rooms at Tall Poppy Productions, but I was really there to see the high-end custom guitars. I was not disappointed.

I own an Ibanez. I actually own a black Ibanez. It was the first real guitar I ever purchased. Prior to that I’d gone through several guitars made by companies I’m sure don’t even make guitars anymore. 52 Guitars, week 20—Gibson Explorer Tremolo

I love it when a classic guitar has a modern twist applied to it. I love it more when that twist works! The Gibson Explorer Tremolo is such a guitar. The classic yet radical shape of the Gibson Explorer works so well with a Floyd-Rose tremolo system. They look like they should have always been together. The black and white combination used in the body and headstock paint is also a match that is made in heaven.

52 Guitars, week 17—Musicvox Space Cadet 6 string

If I was building a super collection of guitars with something like 52 different models, I’d want to make sure each guitar had something unique to offer. Otherwise I’d go to my guitar den—I’m pretty sure that’s what you’d call a room with 52 guitars in it—and spend all my time trying to work out which guitar was which. That would be time wasted. 52 Guitars, week 16—FGN Expert Elan Dark Evolution

I love black guitars. I also love white guitars. Anything else … Not so much. One of the things I sometimes wonder about though is “should you take fretboards into consideration when talking about guitar colour?”
