Last week I wrote about a guitar I discovered on Instagram. This week I’m sharing a guitar I discovered on Tumblr. Guitars … They’re everywhere people!
The Chubbuck Guitars Hollowbody Mousa 2 is a sexy woodgrain guitar that has an amazing looking finish (the nitrocellulose lacquer doesn’t hurt there). I really like the look of the offset double cutaway body shape and the contours that have been applied to the guitar’s front and back (both made from Flame Claro maple).
Clearly the standout feature is the guitar’s approach to the woods themselves. The fretboard has no fretmarkers to detract from the woodgrain, the volume and tone controls have a woodgrain look to them (I’m not sure what they are to be honest though) and the pickup rings, bridge and tailpiece are all made from Macassar ebony.
That tailpiece! That’s one beautiful looking piece of work.
What are the official features though?
- 24 frets
- 3-way pickup switch
- Master volume and master tone
- Series/split/parallel neck pickup, in/out of phase middle pickup position
- Nickel Waverly tuners with ebony buttons
To me though this guitar is all about the wood, the attention to details and the wood. The wood is so good it gets a mention twice. Make sure you check out the official gallery of images at the Chubbuck Guitars website as well as on the official Chubbuck Guitars Tumblr Blog. This is one amazing looking guitar.
Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
