Back when I was a teenager (which is almost two early-teen lifetimes ago) I really wanted a Peavey Bandit 65 amplifier. That amplifier had the most amazing reverb I’d ever heard. These days I get my tone from Fender and Marshall amplification as well as my various iOS simulators. With all of those possibilities I clearly need a massive guitar collection. Well, I wish I had a massive guitar collection. Instead, I have a growing guitar collection wishlist. Which brings me back to Peavey. I want the Peavey Predator Plus ST. It’s now in my wishlist. … 52 Guitars, week 12—Peavey Predator Plus ST
Custom guitar plectrums from Grover Allman
I’ve wanted to get some custom guitar plectrums for quite some time now. I’m not in a band and I’m not famous, but I’ve wanted some all the same. Why? Because thanks to Grover Allman I can! It’s simple when you look at it that way. You can order directly from the Grover Allman website or you can order using their own iPhone app. Either way, you can submit your own artwork and the plectrums are produced for you in no time at all. That’s what I’m hoping for anyhow. … Custom guitar plectrums from Grover Allman
Steve Case (Somewhere Where I’m Not) CD artwork
My first attempt at CD artwork—for anybody let alone Steve Case—was this jewel case design for the Somewhere Where I’m Not CD. The project included a 16pp booklet, CD design and jewel case design. The brief was to create something that appeared real and natural—the kind of thing people were generally creating and sharing on social media through the likes of Instagram. All supplied imagery was manipulated and became part of the design you see here.

I’ve often thought to myself when reading the advertisements—yes, I read advertisements—in Guitar World magazine “Those Framus guitars look pretty awesome”. It wasn’t until very recently that I worked out I have a weekly outlet for featuring guitars I think look pretty awesome which would allow me to further investigate the Framus guitars and then write about my discoveries. I’m slow on the uptake at times. A little bit like this week’s article. But here it is and here I go … … 52 Guitars, week 11—Framus Hollywood SC Black
My next guitar
I’ve written once or twice about the Buddemeyer Hangnail Pro guitar I was ordering. That hasn’t gone to plan unfortunately on account of those being on hold and it’s looking unlikely that I’ll see that guitar (or my investment) anytime soon. This whole process has unfortunately set me back (in time and money) and I need to start my plan and save for a new guitar process from scratch. Winning the recent Moniker Guitars Ugly Guitar Contest has helped me decide what my next guitar will be. I’m just not sure when that can be. … My next guitar
52 Guitars, week 10—PRS Dave Navarro Signature
A couple of years ago I had a blog that I called 47 guitars. I wrote about the 47 guitars I’d buy if I was some kind of a millionaire. I’m still not a millionaire, but I would add this guitar to any wishlist I was putting together. Wait … I am putting together such a list. And so I add the PRS Dave Navarro Signature model. Because it is still awesome.
Actually, this guitar seems as ageless as Dave Navarro. I’m sure he doesn’t age. Anyhow, the guitar. … 52 Guitars, week 10—PRS Dave Navarro Signature

52 Guitars, week 9—The Tour Bus Guitar
Sometimes when you go searching for unique guitars to add to your wish list you come across that little something that blows your mind. When guitars have been doing the same thing and have been built using the same technologies for so long, those little differences can really make you think. The Tour Bus guitar by Sébastien Gavet is one of those guitars that blows your mind and makes you think. … 52 Guitars, week 9—The Tour Bus Guitar
52 Guitars, week 6—Eastwood Airline 3P DLX
Airline Guitars were originally made in the USA from 1958-1968 and sold via mail-order. Today you can get re-issued Airline Guitars through Eastwood Guitars and you can purchase them online (or through selected bricks and mortar guitar stores). Times may change, but cool looking guitars need not. That’s how I feel about the Airline 3P DLX (in black). This guitar has a funky appeal that just makes me want to play guitar for hours while I experiment with the tones and sounds that only a three pickup guitar can. … 52 Guitars, week 6—Eastwood Airline 3P DLX
Take your pick (plectrum comparisons)
Recently I received a gift pack of TUSQ guitar plectrums from the kind people at Graph Tech. The TUSQ plectrums are made using the same technology/material that Graph Tech has been applying to its saddles and bridges for almost 30 years. This man-made ivory improves the harmonics, vibration control and tone when used in the nut and/or bridge. So I was curious what that would mean when the same material was applied to the guitar plectrum. … Take your pick (plectrum comparisons)
