This entry is going to perhaps be the simplest, shortest and most basic of entries in this series so far. It’s not because I’m lazy (although I am). It’s not because as I write this it’s late and I have work tomorrow (although it is and I do). No, it’s because sometimes you need simple. Sometimes you need no-fuss. That’s exactly what the EarthQuaker Devices Tentacle pedal is. No-fuss, octave up at the push of one button.
It’s time to get your groove on.
I should point out before I get any further into this that the Tentacle pedal is currently out of stock. Keep in mind though that this series isn’t about informing you of pedals you should go out to buy. No, this is about pedals I wish I owned. This pedal, I wish I owned one.
The Tentacle is a very simple octave up pedal. Push that pedal’s only button and you’re playing your guitar with the added higher octave effect many groovers love. According to the manufacturer, the pedal’s effects are better recognised using your guitar’s neck pickup and above the 12th fret. It’s a lead guitarist’s dream perhaps.
That’s not me, but I still want it.
There’s not much more to it really. Click … Octave up. Click … Regular guitar. Not that it needs to be that way. As the official video showcases, this pedal sounds just as awesome when paired with other effects such as fuzz or overdrive. My favourites!
This pedal keeps on winning. Why don’t I have one already?!
Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar pedal. I have not experienced first-hand the sound or effects of this guitar pedal. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
