Last month, Mick from the Guitarist Guild forums posted a thread asking what experiences people had to share regarding online purchases (related to guitar gear). I shared my list of mostly good experiences and thought I’d expand upon that here. Why? Because although the experiences have been mostly good—actually, very good—there is that one bad experience I’d like to get out there and finally move on from. That experience is the Buddemeyer Hangnail Pro guitar that never happened and left me out-of-pocket $625USD. … Online guitar related shopping experiences—the good and the bad
I’ve written once or twice about the Buddemeyer Hangnail Pro guitar I was ordering. That hasn’t gone to plan unfortunately on account of those being on hold and it’s looking unlikely that I’ll see that guitar (or my investment) anytime soon. This whole process has unfortunately set me back (in time and money) and I need to start my plan and save for a new guitar process from scratch. Winning the recent Moniker Guitars Ugly Guitar Contest has helped me decide what my next guitar will be. I’m just not sure when that can be. … My next guitar
When I last wrote about the guitar I’m in the process of acquiring I was able to provide pictures of a similar model being built for another guitarist who was after the same model of the Buddemeyer Hangnail Pro I am after—Smoke. If you haven’t guessed it yet, I am a big fan of guitars that are black and/or white. It’s obviously how I like my websites as well. Today the Buddemeyer Hangnail Pro Guitars website launched using it’s new URL and website design. The website has been developed using the ResponsiveEve HTML template as its framework. A few other responsive enhancements were made to the website (such as embedding the YouTube videos in a way that ensures they resize with the framework) in an effort to make the website accessible to all users on almost all devices. … Buddemeyer Hangnail Pro Guitars website launches
I’m lucky enough to own a few different guitars. I’ve tried to add a new guitar to my little collection every other year for the last 10 years or so. With each new purchase I try and get something new. Not new in the sense of the guitar not being second hand, but in the sense of the guitar having features my previous guitars didn’t have. For example, I purchased my Fender Stratocaster so I could experience the three single coil pickup scenario (plus I just wanted to own a Fender Stratocaster). I purchased my Epiphone Les Paul so I could experience the twin humbucker scenario with independent volume and control knobs. With all my current guitars, I have most scenarios covered. I guess that’s why this year I wasn’t really looking for a new guitar. … The beginnings of my next guitar
