On Boxing Day—or post-Christmas as I sometimes like to call it—I purchased my first bass guitar. It was a cheap bass guitar, but I’m not a professional bass player so I don’t need much. Truth be told, I’m very happy with my purchase. So happy I decided that I needed to play this bass on a guitar track of mine. It was time to dig up an old riff and add another layer to it. Seeing as how the song now has guitar and bass, I decided to call the tune Black and White (the track was previously called Drop D because it is played in drop D tuning—ingeneous). I love both of those non-colours just as much as I love guitar and now, bass. … Black and White—my first recorded riff with bass

52 Guitars—the summary
It took a year, but I managed to finish my series on 52 Guitars. It probably took a year because I decided to write an article each week, but I was dedicated. Some said I couldn’t do it and some didn’t care. Regardless, I did it and my website has more content than it’s ever had before. If you’ve followed at all, you now have a list of 52 guitar manufacturers. That’s right. I didn’t just select 52 guitars from the top five guitar manufacturers, I went out there and researched some luthiers I’d never heard of until this year. 2013 made me a better guitar fan. It also saw me finally receive a new guitar. 2013 was way better than 2012. … 52 Guitars—the summary
52 Guitars, week 52—Maton Guitars MS500 HC
I’ve enjoyed putting the 52 Guitars series together. Each week I’ve written about a different guitar from a different guitar manufacturer. As this is week 52, I wanted to make sure I ended on a very high note. Something that would mean a lot to me while representing a little bit of me and where I come from. I could only do that with an Australian luthier. An Australian luthier with a global following. It had to be a Maton. … 52 Guitars, week 52—Maton Guitars MS500 HC
52 Guitars, week 51—Knaggs Guitars Influence Electric ‘Kenai’ (Tier: 3)
If this is your first time to my website, here are a few things you need to know. Firstly, I love black and/or white. I love black and white so much I’ve dedicated this website to only black and white content. I also love guitars. I love all kinds of guitars. So when you find a guitar that combines those two loves for me, I’m one incredibly happy guy. This week I discovered the Knaggs Guitars Influence Electric “Kenai” (Tier: 3) in a faded Onyx finish and I’m ecstatic. … 52 Guitars, week 51—Knaggs Guitars Influence Electric ‘Kenai’ (Tier: 3)
52 Guitars, week 50—Collings SoCo 16 LC
Sometimes I’m drawn to a guitar purely because I find the design to be incredibly beautiful. I’m not just talking for a guitar beautiful either. I’m talking all things considered beautiful. The Collings SoCo 16 LC is such a guitar. It’s simply beautiful. From the guitar body shape to the wood grains that are so wonderfully captured in this design, this guitar looks amazing. … 52 Guitars, week 50—Collings SoCo 16 LC
52 Guitars, week 49—James Trussart Steeldeville
I love guitars. I also love metal (the heavy kind in particular). Imagine a guitar that combines those two loves into one awesome piece of music making gear. Imagine no more! The James Trussart SteelDeville is that piece of gear. It’s also the guitar that is more than one guitar. Spend a few moments watching the gallery cycle through on the official website and you’ll see what I mean. Each guitar is a unique piece of metalwork mastery. … 52 Guitars, week 49—James Trussart Steeldeville

This is another article that features a manufacturer I’m proud to have purchased from. I don’t have this model, but what I do have, I love. So I imagine I’d absolutely love the Jeff Loomis JLV-7 NT by Schecter Guitar Research! … 52 Guitars, week 48—Schecter Jeff Loomis JLV-7 NT
My Scarebear custom Reedsdale by Moniker Guitars
Okay. I’ve written about Moniker Guitars a few times this year. I apologise if it seems repetitive. If it’s repetitive, I apologise. But even if you have read the article I wrote about my custom Scarebear Reedsdale, I guarantee you missed a few important things. Not because you’re an article skimmer, but because until now I haven’t shared these things. What things? … My Scarebear custom Reedsdale by Moniker Guitars
52 Guitars, week 47—Fender Jim Root Telecaster
This week’s guitar falls into the category of I don’t own this model, but I own a guitar from this brand. Fender may be primarily known for their Stratocasters and Telecasters, but what a range those two powerhouses have. At the time of writing this article, the Fender website has 144 Stratocasters and 106 Telecasters. Given unlimited funds I’d probably want at least half of them. At least. … 52 Guitars, week 47—Fender Jim Root Telecaster
52 Guitars, week 46—Buddy Blaze Guitars K2 Model 2H
Around this time last year I hoped to get a custom guitar with a reversed headstock, Floyd Rose tremolo and a pair of kick-arse pickups. That’s right … Here in Australia we say arse. Unfortunately that guitar fell-through. That hasn’t stopped me wishing for such a guitar. I liked the concept last year and I still like it today. Guitars like the Buddy Blaze Guitars K2 Model 2H make it easy to want such a guitar. … 52 Guitars, week 46—Buddy Blaze Guitars K2 Model 2H
