52 Guitars, week 14—LTD Snakebyte

The guitarists who have been the most influential to me over the years all have a guitar look they are known for. Eddie Van Halen, John 5, Jimmy Page and my most influential guitarist … James Hetfield. When I discovered Metallica as a teenager (many years ago) I was forced to rethink my approach to guitar playing. Since then I’ve valued a riff higher than any guitar solo. Nothing says metal to me like James Hetfield behind his white Explorer shaped guitar. The LTD Snakebyte is the modern take on that iconic look. 52 Guitars, week 14—LTD Snakebyte

52 Guitars, week 13—Squier J5 Telecaster

Right when I’m getting ready to post about the next guitar I’ll add to my wishlist, I stumble across a devastating story involving a break-in at John 5’s house. I can only imagine the emotion involved when someone steals quality, high-end equipment like John 5 has. Me, I’d be over the moon if I owned his very affordable John 5 Squier Telecaster signature model. I hope to get it one day. I hope John 5 gets his stolen higher quality gear back before that. 52 Guitars, week 13—Squier J5 Telecaster

52 Guitars, week 12—Peavey Predator Plus ST

Back when I was a teenager (which is almost two early-teen lifetimes ago) I really wanted a Peavey Bandit 65 amplifier. That amplifier had the most amazing reverb I’d ever heard. These days I get my tone from Fender and Marshall amplification as well as my various iOS simulators. With all of those possibilities I clearly need a massive guitar collection. Well, I wish I had a massive guitar collection. Instead, I have a growing guitar collection wishlist. Which brings me back to Peavey. I want the Peavey Predator Plus ST. It’s now in my wishlist. 52 Guitars, week 12—Peavey Predator Plus ST

52 Guitars, week 11—Framus Hollywood SC Black

I’ve often thought to myself when reading the advertisements—yes, I read advertisements—in Guitar World magazine “Those Framus guitars look pretty awesome”. It wasn’t until very recently that I worked out I have a weekly outlet for featuring guitars I think look pretty awesome which would allow me to further investigate the Framus guitars and then write about my discoveries. I’m slow on the uptake at times. A little bit like this week’s article. But here it is and here I go … 52 Guitars, week 11—Framus Hollywood SC Black

52 Guitars, week 10—PRS Dave Navarro Signature

A couple of years ago I had a blog that I called 47 guitars. I wrote about the 47 guitars I’d buy if I was some kind of a millionaire. I’m still not a millionaire, but I would add this guitar to any wishlist I was putting together. Wait … I am putting together such a list. And so I add the PRS Dave Navarro Signature model. Because it is still awesome.

Actually, this guitar seems as ageless as Dave Navarro. I’m sure he doesn’t age. Anyhow, the guitar. 52 Guitars, week 10—PRS Dave Navarro Signature

52 Guitars, week 6—Eastwood Airline 3P DLX

Airline Guitars were originally made in the USA from 1958-1968 and sold via mail-order. Today you can get re-issued Airline Guitars through Eastwood Guitars and you can purchase them online (or through selected bricks and mortar guitar stores). Times may change, but cool looking guitars need not. That’s how I feel about the Airline 3P DLX (in black). This guitar has a funky appeal that just makes me want to play guitar for hours while I experiment with the tones and sounds that only a three pickup guitar can. 52 Guitars, week 6—Eastwood Airline 3P DLX

52 Guitars, week 8—Dingwall Guitars Custom II

Some guitars look amazing because the colours they’re supplied in simply blow your mind. Some guitars look amazing because they’re the perfect blend of black and white. This week’s wish list guitar achieves awesomeness by letting the natural wood finish shine though. The Dingwall Guitars Custom II is a magnificent looking guitar that is clearly all wood. It’s all wood and all beauty. 52 Guitars, week 8—Dingwall Guitars Custom II

52 Guitars, week 7—Ormsby Guitars DC Artist

Let’s be honest … My chances of getting the 52 guitars I hope to write about this year are low. Very, very low. In fact, my chances of getting any of them are low (this year). Many of the guitars in this series are simply fantasy guitars. Some could be categorised as desirable while others are somewhat achievable. Today’s guitar however is one that I believe is all three. If my long term plan runs smoothly, this would also become the most expensive guitar I one day own. What makes it so expensive and wish-worthy?

I’d build it while participating in a week long guitar building course. 52 Guitars, week 7—Ormsby Guitars DC Artist

52 Guitars, week 5—Ash Customworks Diablo

I generally spend quite a bit of time each week looking for the guitar I’ll feature in my next wishlist article. This week, I let the powers of the Interweb—the social media subset in particular—do the work for me. I did that by paying attention to what other people were recommending in regards to what guitar is awesome. Tsuken—who I know from Twitter and a couple of other places—has mentioned Ash Customworks a couple of times that I’ve seen and I decided to check them out. I’m glad I did. Their guitars generally look amazing and the Diablo, looks irresistable. 52 Guitars, week 5—Ash Customworks Diablo
