Charvel sure do make some sexy guitars. I’m personally a huge fan of their San Dimas range—perfect combination of all that makes a Super Strat great. But I also like this Pro Stock DS2. It’s like a Super Les Paul. Perfect!
As the official website states, this guitar delivers a traditional slant on a contemporary guitar. Features I love include the recess under the three-way pickup selecting toggle switch and the contour of the single cutaway. The volume and tone controls also sit above some beautiful recesses. This guitar is just full of sexy curves.
The classic look of the cream binding on the black finish—other finishes are of course available for weird people who like colour in their guitar—plus the chrome finishes that are applied to the tuning pegs and bridge/tail combo help this guitar retain the right amount of linkage to the classic look of a Les Paul. The custom fretboard inlays and the two-tone pickups are just enough though to keep the guitar looking modern and fresh. This guitar does a brilliant job of combining traditional with modern.
As for the specs, the guitar features Charvel custom humbucker pickups, Charvel tuners and a Charvel bridge. 100% Charvel beauty it seems. That’s another thing that draws me to this guitar. It’s not a combination of third-party components. It’s all Charvel.
The Pro Stock DS2 is part of the Charvel Desolation range. I think it looks to be a killer range.
Disclaimer: I’ve not played this guitar. I have not experienced the sound or feel of this guitar. That doesn’t matter. It looks awesome, it’s obviously played by winners and I want one.
