52 pedals, week 21—Keeley Phase 24

Tonight (sometime) here in Sunny Queensland—that’s in Australia for the geographically challenged—a large portion of the adult population is going to be fixated on a little sporting event called State of Origin. Me, I could care less. I’m not phased at all. The only thing that phases me is a good guitar pedal. Particularly a good phase pedal. Good thing I discovered the Keeley Phase 24 then! It’s delivering 2 and 4 stage phasing like nobody’s business. I think it may be in a league* of its own.

* Yes, this week’s article is going to full of football puns. We’ll all have a ball! 52 pedals, week 21—Keeley Phase 24

Stringjoy custom guitar and bass strings

Recently I was approached by the folks at StringJoy who asked me if I wanted to try their strings out. I didn’t have to think too hard or long about that. I’d seen their work on Instagram and was very intrigued by the concept of custom string sets. I was especially interested in their ability to provide custom string sets for 7-string guitars. As a recent owner of a 7-string guitar, I jumped at the opportunity.

So far I’m very glad I did. These strings are truly amazing. They’re so good I don’t want to change the first set out yet! Stringjoy custom guitar and bass strings

52 pedals, week 19—JOYO Gate of Kahn (Noise Gate)

If you’ve been sticking with me for this year’s series of 52, then you’ll have noticed a few things. Firstly, I’m often behind in my scheduled weekly posts. Secondly, I’ve been focusing a lot on overdrive and distortion pedals. I can’t help it. I love distortion and overdrive (in that order to be honest). But a good part of any overdriven sound is the silence in-between. That’s why today I’ve decided to cut all unnecessary noise by suggesting I’d like the JOYO Gate of Kahn (Noise Gate).

You can therefore expect this week’s article to be a lot shorter as well. Less noise and all. 52 pedals, week 19—JOYO Gate of Kahn (Noise Gate)

52 pedals, week 18—EC Pedals Time Traveler Delay

Don’t you hate it when your plans for weekly blog posts go to hell in a handbasket? Don’t you also hate it when a phrase or saying makes little to no sense? Hell in a handbasket … Hell would burn a handbasket.

Now I feel like I need to go back in time to fix the introduction to this article and to write this post last week when I should have. Well I can’t. But I can write about how cool the Time Traveler Delay by EC Pedals appears to be.

There we go. That introduction worked out fine after all. 52 pedals, week 18—EC Pedals Time Traveler Delay

52 pedals, week 17—Overdrive No.30 w/ Allen Bradley’s (Star Wars Editions)

Once again I find myself playing catch-up on my weekly Blog posting. I don’t know why I can’t keep up. It’s not like I’m off saving the universe or anything. Although, if I were, today would be the day I’d do it. For those of you unaware, today is May the 4th (AKA Star Wars Day). Why?

May the Fourth be with you.

I love this day. It’s also the main reason I decided to add this week’s pedal when I did. The Overdrive No.30 w/ Allen Bradley’s (Star Wars Editions) pedal by Midnight 30 Music is an awesome sounding overdrive pedal that is hand built in upstate New York. Everyone loves a good hand made American pedal. 52 pedals, week 17—Overdrive No.30 w/ Allen Bradley’s (Star Wars Editions)

Things I should have already written since the NAMM Show 2015—F-Pedals

Sticking with my new theme of I’m a lazy person who really should have written this already, I’ll revisit a brand I wrote about in week 15 of my current 52 pedals series—F-Pedals. The Edstortion pedal is an amazing pedal (which is why I added it to my pedals series) but the PhazeVibe deserves a mention too. Both pedals combined … Even better.

Apart from the pedals’ awesome tones and features, they both offer the ability to draw their power from their power board using the patent pending wireless F-Power unit. It’s so cool. Changing pedals on a pedal board will never be the same again. Things I should have already written since the NAMM Show 2015—F-Pedals

Things I should have already written since the NAMM Show 2015—Tonewood-Amp

As Winter approaches here in Australia, I’m reminded of that awesome Summer I had visiting Los Angeles for their Winter. Clearly those seasonal changes played tiny tricks on my feeble mind, because in the months since I was in Los Angeles I have not written about everything I should have from that wonderful experience I’ve decided to call The NAMM Show 2015. It makes sense to call it that actually, because that was it’s name.

One of my favourite experiences at The NAMM Show 2015 was visiting the booth for ToneWood-Amp. I’ve written about ToneWood-Amp before, but let me tell you, seeing and hearing is believing. This thing is way better than I’d imagined. Things I should have already written since the NAMM Show 2015—Tonewood-Amp

52 pedals, week 16—Pro Tone Pedals Paul Masvidal Signature Chorus

It’s been a while, but I figured it was time to step away from the usual overdrive and distortion pedals. I don’t want to step too far away so I’m going with a brand I know and trust from the realm of guitar pedals. A brand that produced one of my all-time favourite distortion pedals—Skumstortion.

Pro Tone Pedals knows how to make awesome looking and awesome sounding guitar pedals. Knowing that, I am confident that the Paul Masvidal Signature Chorus pedal would be an amazing pedal to add to my collection. Truth be told, Skumstortion and a good chorus would be all I’d need for the majority of music I like to play. 52 pedals, week 16—Pro Tone Pedals Paul Masvidal Signature Chorus
