How to ‘guitar’ safely at home

The majority of us right now are either totally self-isolating or at least spending many more hours at home than we have ever done before. For some of us, this isn’t a bad thing because we have guitars. But beyond playing or practicing more at home, what else can we do with our guitar fascinations while we have more time at home than we’d normally have?

I thought I’d put together a list. I’m happy to add to it if people think of something I miss. I hope this helps make each day at home that little more productive, enjoyable or perhaps positively distracting.

Alphabet playlist of metal—the ‘Z’ fortnight

Back when I wrote the article for the M fortnight of this series, I started with Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm … which represented the number of M bands in the article as well as the tastiness of a playlist with that much variety. If I was to follow that same approach for this final playlist, the result would be Zzzzzz.

Yep. Six bands. That’s how many Z bands I could come up with—with a little help from friends. This will be one sleepy little article.

My 10 favourite albums of 2019

The new music I’ve had the pleasure of listening to in 2019 has been outstanding. For my musical tastes, this year has been amazing. Looking back—listening back too I suppose—my musical tastes have seemingly changed slightly as well. The amount of screaming I can not only tolerate, but honestly enjoy has increased dramatically.

Not only have Google Play Music and YouTube made some seriously impressive recommendations, they’ve made sure I knew as soon as my existing favourite bands released something new. That combination of recommendation types has resulted in a somewhat surprising list for me.
